The Practice of Presence

This past week, we gathered with a deeply engaged group of students in Body Mind Spirit: The Holistic Practice of Expressive Arts. Through movement, writing, drama, and visual art, something simple and powerful emerged again and again: presence.

Presence in the expressive arts is not about doing more or getting it right. It’s about listening—deeply. To images. To the body. To the next creative impulse. It’s about witnessing another person with care, and learning to offer that same quality of attention to ourselves.

Each student created a mandala to hold their process, a visual reminder that wholeness is not something we arrive at—it’s something we practice.

As an expressive arts therapist, I learned a great deal about presence from Natalie Rogers – particularly how presence requires trust, and how it opens a space for awareness, healing, and transformation to occur.

This is the heart of our work: creating spaces where art, awareness, and inner wisdom meet.

If this way of working speaks to you, we invite you to stay connected. Our newsletter offers reflections, practices, and invitations into the living, evolving practice of expressive arts.
