Creativity is a powerful guide. Again and again, we see how our creative wisdom offers insight, healing, and direction. And still—creating something new takes courage.
To pick up a brush, make a mark, move the body, or give sound to something tender inside—this is no small act. When we create, we step into the unknown. We don’t always know what will emerge or where the creative thread will lead. That vulnerability is part of the process.
This week, as January begins to soften into the year ahead, I (Tamara) find myself reflecting on courage—on what it means to “do it scared.” To create in the presence of uncertainty. To trust that something meaningful is waiting to take shape, even if we can’t yet see it.

In expressive arts work, we ask this same courage of our clients. And because of that, it becomes essential that we meet their creative acts with deep presence, care, and safety. When someone is brave enough to create, they deserve to be fully witnessed.
In our upcoming course, Creative Presence, we explore how to support this courageous act in one-on-one expressive arts sessions—how to establish safety, attune deeply, and honor the vulnerability that creativity invites.
A gentle invitation for you this week:
How do you offer yourself presence and care when you create? Can you allow yourself to not know, to stretch a little beyond what’s familiar, and follow what wants to emerge?
When you do, know that you are not alone. We would be honored to witness you
