Listening for Creative Wisdom

Last week, Kathleen shared a reflection about expressive arts as a wisdom patha way of living that cultivates depth, integration, and embodied understanding through deep listening.

Her words stayed with me.

I (Tamara) recently visited an aquarium and found myself mesmerized by the slow, graceful movements of jellyfish and the flowing motion of an octopus. Days later, when I sat down to create an image exploring “being with our truest nature,” those same flowing forms appeared on my page. One shape grew into another, moving organically without stopping.

It felt as though I was listening to something deeper than thought—simply following the impulses that arose.

This is something expressive arts teaches us: how to pay attention to what is already present within us. Through artmaking, movement, writing, and reflection, we learn to listen more deeply to our inner awareness.

Over time, that listening begins to feel like a path unfolding in front of us.

A wisdom path is not something imposed from outside. It is discovered through your own creative process.

You might try this yourself today. Take a few moments to draw, move, write, or create something simple. Notice what emerges and follow the thread of curiosity.

You may find that the answers you are seeking are already within you.
